THE BIG LISTEN Campaign began in August 2016 as an awareness month for Access Radio across New Zealand. Here in the Manawatu, we embraced the opportunity to take our programme makers and our services out of the station, and into more public spaces - including libraries in Palmerston North, Feilding, and Ashhurst -  in an attempt to make radio more "accessible" to the community.

It began with THE EXPERIMENT...
Our first event of the campaign was an opportunity to test our live-outside-broadcast opportunities. We have the technology, but could we get it to do what we needed it to? Yes, yes we did!
With the help of Matt Davies, and the Lockdown06 crew, we successfully broadcast a show LIVE from the Palmerston North Central Library not just to radio, but also via Periscope!

With our first event a technical success, we then commenced our RADIO WITH A LIVE AUDIENCE series.

Again in the beautiful setting of the Palmerston North Central Library, every Thursday Night throughout the campaign we presented a live programme recording, as well as support from a local musician, and again broadcast on Periscope!
